I enjoy dressing up occasionally for the office and my personal style can be a little on the eccentric side. I think it’s okay to dress mildly spicy, but what are the rules of provocative dressing in the workplace? I'm all about bringing a little fashion and glamour to the office—but it's wise to be smart about it.By now, most of us have learned to be careful with cleavage. No one will be listening to your ideas and recommendations if your v-neck shirt is yelling “look at these!" Plunging necklines can be very distracting for the boys, and also the women, who are probably not as impressed, if not completely turned off. I enjoy v-necks over scoop necks any day because they appear to be more flattering and feminine. To those that agree…wear your low-cut blouses and sweaters, but stock up on the appropriate undergarments such as camisoles, t-shirts, tanks and scarves.
If you’re a fan of short skirts, you should be happy to know that showing a little leg can be the safest way to suggest a little sex appeal without crossing the line. Most women are comfortable with their calves and able to show them off without feeling too revealed. The most flattering and appropriate skirt length hovers just a few inches above the knee. If you prefer to show a bit more thigh than a few inches, tone it down by avoiding stilettos and go for a lower heel.
By far, the sexiest part of your body that you have to display in and out of the office is your head. Brains are always your biggest asset and nothing stands out more than wit, charm, intelligence, inquisitiveness and professionalism.
On your way up the corporate ladder you don’t have to leave your sense of style behind. Be smart, tech-sexy and stay connected!
