Big Girls Like Barbie Too!

The iconic Barbie doll has been around for quite some time, since 1959 to be exact. And since her creation she has transformed into more than just an unrealistic “perfectly” proportioned fashionista.

Women have become more liberated and educated since Barbie’s conception; therefore, while maintaining her distinct femininity she has morphed into more than just a pageant queen. Barbie has earned a Nursing degree, became a flight attendant, teacher, career woman and you guessed it…..a tech-savvy diva. The 1 Modern Circle Barbie, dressed in an impeccable tailored suit and draped belt, also carries a black leather laptop bag. How can you not admire a woman who remains so stylish, sophisticated and chic regardless of her chosen pursuit?

As little girls, many of us played with Barbie and hoped that one day we would embrace her beauty, femininity and independence. And to this day, even if that perfectly chiseled counterpart (a.k.a. Ken) has not come our way, we will always have fond memories of our fascination with Barbie and her “to-die-for” wardrobe.

To celebrate this girlhood experience, Barbie Pink is the signature color for the She-Tech spring collection. Place your order by March 30, 2007 and receive 10% discount off the classic Arrinna Tote in Barbie Pink. Complement your tote with the matching Kick-Around Town Digital Accessory bag and save 15%. As always, shipping is free and your order will go out no later than April 15.

From little girls to big girls---we all like Barbie. Stay connected!

Candy Gurl

Have you ever had the taste for something sweet? Surprisingly some of the most sinful indulgences are non-caloric; meaning fat free and contain absolutely zero carbs. These sweets may not satisfy your cravings for chocolate; however, they are certain to appeal to your tech-savvy sweet tooth.

For those of you that hunger after or at least have a subtle fascination with techno gadgets, there are a variety of websites that feature the latest gadget candy on the market. To name a few, visit http://www.shinyshiny.tv/, http://www.gizmodo.com/ and http://www.digital-trendz.com/. These sites highlight and review the latest devices for your PC, MP3 player, digital camera, mobile phone and more.

One of the sweetest items I recently discovered on gizmodo is proof positive that tech-couture is on the rise. Combine a premier fashion designer with a leading technology company and you get the new oh-so stylish LG Prada mobile phone that will be debuting this month. And for the truly pretentious, why not accessorize your phone with the Prada Bluetooth Headset, “the official ear candy” of the rich and famous.

Another item of interest is the Razer Pro multimedia keyboard that doubles as an iPod docking station. It conveniently has a dedicated button to launch iTunes and it's even loaded with ten macro command hot keys which give you dedicated controls for your iPod. How delightful!

There are so many sweet morsels out there from the practically innovative to the extreme and outlandish, and I’m sure amongst all of them there will be some “must haves.” Hopefully the new She-Tech digital accessory bag will be a sinful indulgence that you will not be able to resist. Every tech-savvy girl needs a kick-around town bag to stay connected.

The She-Tech K.A.T. shoulder bag is a stylish, hands-free way to carry your PDA, mobile phone, iPod and other personal accessories while shopping, traveling, clubbing, or just kickin-around! The bag debuts this spring and will be available in three scrumptious flavors.

Go ahead and be a Candy Gurl. Savor, enjoy and most of all...stay connected!

Women Making Herstory

Many accomplishments of women have been overlooked that have had a monumental impact on fashion, technology, business, medicine and other industries. Generations of women continue to move history forward, which is the theme of 2007’s Women’s History Month, which takes place in March.

Surprisingly, the Library of Congress has not been in the business recognizing the achievements of women that long. In fact, before the 1970’s the subject of women’s history, generally speaking, was absent from public consciousness. Initially women were awarded a week of acknowledgement in 1978. In 1987; however, the National Women's History Project petitioned Congress to expand the celebration. Due to the dedicated efforts of these women, March became National Women's History Month.

To cite a woman that has largely contributed to the field of technology, I give you the late Grace Murray Hopper (1906-1992). Grace Murray Hopper was an American Navy officer and pioneer in data processing. She is most widely known for her work in the 50’s and 60’s at the Eckert-Mauchly Computer Corporation. She also helped develop the popular Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL) for the first commercial electronic computer. For more information on Grace and other great women in history, visit the National Women’s History Project at http://www.nwhp.org/.

Courageous women of the new millennium, continue to strive to reach your goals around career, family and public service. And in light of National Women’s History Month, take time out to recognize the achievements of the great women around you. Perhaps one day, many will reflect on your accomplishments and pay homage to you.

Although women’s history month is only 31 days, for the entire 365 days of the calendar year…stay connected!

"Home Sweet Home"

There is nothing like being within the confines of “at home comfort”. I recall when I moved into my town home in Atlanta, and months before arriving, I had vivid mental pictures of how I wanted each room to be. The living room was first priority, following the bedroom, then the guest room. I have been living there for well over a year and to this day have not given my home office, which doubles as a storage room, any decorating attention. I often visualize walking into a contemporary, ergonomic workspace with abstract artwork and the latest technology. This major upgrade may not necessarily guarantee an increase in my productivity, but would certainly make the home office experience more satisfying.

In addition to comfort, the convenience of a home office is priceless. The ability to wake up, roll out of bed and begin productivity while in your flannel pajamas and bunny slippers often outweigh the hassle of showering, rummaging through a closet, firing up a curling iron and applying mascara.

To develop a domestic technology paradise, a variety of equipment is required from the basic to ultra-modern tech couture. For those who are operating on a stiletto heal budget, the fundamentals required to get started are a refurbished desktop PC, inkjet printer, LCD monitor and DVD burner. To become the ultimate “Domestic Tech Goddess” upgrade your workspace to include a laptop computer, docking station, multifunction laser printer, external hard drive and WiFi router.

To add some pizzazz to your environment consider the format of your workspace and what shape would enable you to be the most efficient. There are L and U shaped desks to accommodate a variety of work spaces. Compliment and customize your home office with cabinets, artwork and innovative lighting to create an ambiance.

Renovating my home office is on my list of spring projects this year. Lately the laundry basket at the door has curbed my enthusiasm, and may quite possibly be taking a toll on my creativity. Some how I believe that with the completion of this neglected room, my entire abode will finally feel more like “Home Sweet Home.” Why not invest and bring your home office up to par! Besides, let's face it...many of us spend more time in our home offices than we do in the bedroom any way.

Whether at home, in the office or remote…stay connected!
